Optimal Choice of Actuator for AMD Linear Quadratic Controller

چکیده

In this paper an optimal choice of actuator for an electric-type active mass driver (AMD) system for structural vibration control using linear quadratic controller has been developed. It is composed of an electric servomotor and a ball screw. The problems that commonly are associated with hydraulic AMD systems as noise, oil leakage, and laborintensive maintenance can be suppressed using an electrical AMD system. The desired stroke amplification of the mass and the power demand of the servomotor can be adjusted via the ball screw pitch, which affects the effectiveness and efficiency of the system. A linear quadratic control algorithm is adopted. Numerical simulation is performed using a five-story steel frame structure under a Kanai-Tajimi power spectral density function of ground acceleration. The AMD system proves to be effective and efficient for some value of the ball screw pitch. The reductions of the peak responses can reach 65%.
